How to Choose the Right Abaya Size

Choosing the right abaya size is mainly about getting the length right while keeping the fit comfortable through the shoulders and body. At Noura Atelier, our ready-made abayas are available in sizes 52, 54, 56 and 58, and we also help customers with custom sizing when needed.

What does abaya size mean?

For most abayas, the size number mainly refers to the approximate garment length in inches. A size 54 is generally longer than a size 52, while a size 58 is longer again. The ideal size depends on your height, how you like the abaya to fall, and the footwear you normally wear.

• Size 52: generally suitable for heights around 152–156 cm
• Size 54: generally suitable for heights around 157–161 cm
• Size 56: generally suitable for heights around 162–166 cm
• Size 58: generally suitable for heights around 167–171 cm

This is a general guide rather than a fixed rule. Body shape, shoulder width, preferred looseness and footwear can change the best choice.

How should an abaya fit?

A well-fitting abaya should feel comfortable through the shoulders and chest without looking tight. The hem should fall neatly without dragging excessively on the floor. If you prefer a looser fit, extra flare or a wider body, it is better to discuss this before ordering rather than choosing only by height.

What if your height and body size do not match?

This is common. Someone may need a longer abaya but prefer a wider body fit. In these cases, Noura Atelier can help with selected custom measurements and adjustments, depending on the design.
